I am a total sucker for a good cookbook. Everything about them I love. The photos, the recipes to either make as is or to get inspiration for my own recipes, and the little information tid bits. Sometimes you can find me sitting in the kitchen with a cookbook just reading page after page after page. Honestly I don’t even think that’s how cookbooks are intended to be used, but ya know, to each his own.
When we got married I registered for a few cookbooks, and I regularly get gifted them by people that know me well, aaaand people just give me their cookbooks that they don’t want anymore cause they know I will want them (aka my sisters that hate cooking). So that is how I have curated my collection, BUT with traveling so much, the sad part is that I have to leave them behind which kills me! Although I did bring one along with me to Australia (the True Food Cookbook) because I was just too excited about it to leave it behind. As for the rest, I have photos in my phone from a bunch of pages from the books, and let’s just say it will be a great reunion when I can someday have them in my kitchen to peruse at my pleasing.
If you are in the market for another cookbook, these five listed below are the ones I am currently most excited about! I have been placed on a cookbook buying freeze because getting them back home to the states my backpack would be quite heavy, but these are the 5 I have photos of in my phone of some favorite recipes!
- True Food by Andrew Weil
- Magnolia Table by Joanna Gaines
- Cooks Illustrated
- The Newlywed Cookbook by Sarah Copeland
- The Seasoned Life by Ayesha Curry
These make for a great gift for a gal pal in your life…..although definitely know your audience. Funny story, one time my sisters sweet husband bought her cooking classes as a fun date night activity for them, super thoughtful right? Well my sister didn’t think so, when she opened it she burst into tears because she thought he was telling her she needed some lessons in the kitchen. SO moral of the story, if your pal is anything like my sister, maybe steer clear of buying her a cookbook. But anyone else, have at it!
It’s a great treat yoself gift to yourself. The gift that keeps on giving. How could anyone be mad you bought a cookbook to make them MORE delicious meals??
